D&D stuff (not campaign specific)
My occupation is to do with data system design and I am forever twisting data into various forms. On top of that I am forever thinking about random things. This is a dumping ground for my ideas, observations and analysis.
Class & Race min-maxing
During the first campaign session I noticed how bewildering it has become to choose a class/race combination as there are now several hundred options. So I tabulated the "Primary abilities" of the classes against the +2 racial bonuses of all the races to see how they align.
The above table shows which race matches a given class based on either the 1st /2nd ability score, or the 1st /3rd ability score. All abilities are in alphabetical order, regardless of how they are shown in the class list. (eg if a class has strength 1st and dexterity 2nd this is still shown as DEX-STR or DS).

- The number after some races (eg "Shardmind1", "Shardmind2") indicates there is more than one option for racial bonuses.
- Races in parentheses are the ones I have excluded from my personal campaign.
- Humans are excluded from the table as they have no (specific) racial bonuses.
- The letter A corresponds to Charisma.
